New Registration Application on Press Sewa Portal

A Deficiency Communication (DC) is an official document or letter issued by the Press Registrar General of India (PRGI) identifying incomplete, incorrect, or improperly submitted information or documents uploaded during the application process.

As per Rule 5(6) of the Press and Registration of Periodicals (PRP) Rules, 2024, the publisher shall, within a period not exceeding thirty days of receiving the deficiency communication, remove all deficiencies by submitting/uploading the requisite details and particulars on the Press Sewa Portal.

Accordingly, if a DC is issued, the Publisher is required to take prompt and necessary action to rectify all communicated deficiencies and submit/upload all relevant details and supporting documents on the Press Sewa Portal within the stipulated 30 days from the date of receipt of the deficiency communication.

To respond to a Deficiency Communication (DC), please follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your Press Sewa Portal account.
  2. Navigate to Part B of the application under the Dashboard.
  3. Your submitted applications, along with their current status, will be displayed.
  4. If the status shows “DC issued”, click on the eye icon adjacent to the application status.
  5. The application form will open — scroll to the bottom of the page to view the deficiencies raised by PRGI.
  6. Enter your response and upload supporting documents, if required.
  7. Re-sign the response and then submit it online.

Note: Publishers are advised to regularly monitor their application status and ensure that they respond to the DC within the stipulated timeline to avoid delays or rejection.
